Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Gerard Fontenot, 57, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery in Oberlin under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin Thursday, May 16, 2019 beginning at 8 a.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. and visitation will continue until time of service.

Joey was loved by family and friends. He served as an Altar boy for many years at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Joey graduated with honors from Oberlin High School. He enjoyed working with animals, hunting, and fishing, and was a talented carpenter. Joey learned his trade by working with his father for many years at Oberlin Building Supplies. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Joey's memory include his

five sisters, Terri Hidalgo and husband, Carlos, of Metairie, Catherine Fontenot and husband, Kurt, of Oberlin, Tanya France and husband, Damian, of Westlake, Ava Hebert and husband, Chris, of Lafayette, and Christi Primeaux and husband, Shane, of Lafayette; one brother, Royce Fontenot of Lafayette; ten nieces and nephews, one great niece and two great nephews. He also leaves behind many friends including Dana Hebert.

Joey is preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy Joseph Fontenot and Mary Ophelia Fontenot; two nieces, Erin and Clair Fontenot; and one nephew, Lane Fontenot.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Patrick's Hospital and staff.
