Oberlin- Celebration of Life services honoring Joseph Odrey Drew Montou, 87, will be held at 11 o'clock a.m. on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. Deacon Dale Deshotel will officiate. Joseph will be laid to rest at Reed Cemetery in Oberlin immediately following his services.
Joseph's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Saturday morning, December 7, 2024, from 9 to 11 o'clock a.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10 o'clock a.m. All of Joseph's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
Joseph was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a faithful husband to his wife Dorothy for 50 years until her death. Joseph was a lifelong resident of Oberlin and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin. He was the proud father of six children. Joseph worked hard to provide for his family as an electrician at Boise Cascade in Oakdale, LA for 44 years and was President of the Boise Cascade Union for 23 years. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joseph was the oldest of nine siblings and assisted in raising his siblings after his father's death. He also coached his children for many years in Dixie Youth. Joseph was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved squirrel hunting in which he had a lifelong commitment. He loved to sit on his front porch and visit with numerous friends and family member. Joseph will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Joseph's memory include four sons, Joseph Montou Jr. and wife Kimberlyn, Rick Montou and wife Natalie, Jason Montou and wife Angie, and Jacob Montou and wife Brandy; one daughter Sedonia Fontenot and husband Steve; four sisters, Jean Gidlow, Jane Hidalgo, Nita Ruth Whitley, and Bonita Ann Strother; numerous grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lopez Montou; one son, Waylon Montou; two brothers, John Wayne Montou, and Harry Montou Sr, and two sisters, Sherry Bagget, and Sue Marcantel.
