Oberlin- Joseph Daniel (J.D.) Fontenot, 80, died Friday, April 28, 2006 in his home surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of (Soileau Community) Oberlin, La. He was a member of Victory Christian Worship Center in Eunice, La. He was a proud patriot and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired rice farmer and an Allen Parish School bus driver. He was also a former member of the Allen Parish Water Board and a member of the W.A.C.C.I. Airstream Club.
He was preceded in death by his grandson John Carrier. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rosalee Fontenot of Oberlin; one brother, Rev. Sidney Fontenot and his wife Delores of Sulphur, La.; two daughters, Wanda Cruseturner and her husband Jeston of Moss Bluff, La. and Linda Paxson and her husband Glenn of Oberlin, La; two granddaughters, Tammy LeDoux and her husband Cornelius of Oberlin, La. and Sarah Conner and her husband Sean of Moss Bluff, La.; three grandsons, Daniel Cruseturner and his wife Natalie of Lake Charles, La.; Michael Cruseturner and his wife Charman of Moss Bluff, La. and Scott Carrier and his wife Dana of Memphis, Tenn.; nine great grandchildren and countless friends and neighbors.
His funeral will be at 2 PM Sunday, April 30, 2006 in First United Pentecostal Church of Kinder. The Rev. Ted Ardoin, Rev. Sidney Fontenot, and Rev. Steve Rasco will officiate. Burial will be at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder with Military Honors. Visitation will be 10 am to 8 pm Saturday and will continue Sunday at 8 am until time of service in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
