Oakdale-Celebration of Life services honoring Jose (Jr) Augustin Gutierrez, 62, will be held at 11 o’clock a.m. on Saturday Morning September 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Forest Hill, 10 Butter Cemetery Rd, Forest Hill, LA 71430. Rev. Mark Noel will officiate. Jr will be laid to rest at Butters Cemetery, immediately following his services.

Jr’s family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale on Friday evening, September 18, 2026, from 5 - 9 o’clock p.m. The memorial service will take place on Saturday morning, September 19, 2026, 11 O’Clock a m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. All of Jr’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Jr was raised in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He was a loving husband and uncle. He loved his nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Jr loved going to church, and after church he would take the children to the Zoo, and out to eat.

In his down time Jr enjoyed gardening, it gave him great happiness to share with neighbors and friends all the fresh vegetables he would harvest. He found comfort and peace in taking care of his many animals which included chickens, dogs, and his favorite horse (which he rode every chance he was given). Jr was a friend to everyone, he never met a stranger. He was full of energy and loved to laugh and joke. He was a ‘Jack of All Trades’, there was nothing broken that he could not fix. Though, the one thing he loved more than anything was his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his dear wife Cristina Hernandez Cazares; two brothers - Tomas Gutierrez Arteaga, and Candido Gutierrez; four sisters - Rosa Gutierrez Arteaga, Ma. De Jesus Gutierrez Arteaga, Bernardita Gutierrez Arteaga, and Guadalupe Gutierrez Arteaga,

Jr is preceded in death by his parents Eusebio and Asuncion Gutierrez, and one sister Juana Gutierrez

Jr creció en San Miguel de Allende, México. Fue un esposo y tío amoroso.

Amaba a sus sobrinas, sobrinos e hijos de ahijados. A Jr le encantaba ir a la iglesia, y después de la iglesia llevaba a los niños al Zoológico y a comer.

En su tiempo libre Jr disfrutaba de la jardinería, le daba mucha felicidad compartir con los vecinos y amigos todas las verduras frescas que cosechaba. Jr era amigo de todos, nunca conoció a un extraño. Estaba lleno de energía y le encantaba reír y bromear. Era todo un “Todologo”’, no había nada roto que no pudiera arreglar. Sin embargo, lo que amaba más que cualquier otra cosa era a su familia.
