ELTON-Funeral service for Jonathan Craig Thompson, Sr., 42, will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Indian Bible Church. Bro. Glen Ducharme will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 5-10 P.M. in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. A singing service will begin at 7 P.M. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Craig was a native of Elton and resident of Gallup, New Mexico where he was employed as an iron worker. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He also enjoyed singing, woodworking and working with his hands. Craig was a great storyteller. Bike riding was another of his favorite past times. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. Craig had a special love for his granddaughter, Myla. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle who will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Those left to cherish Craig's memory include his mother, Lelia Obe Battise of Elton; three sons, Vincent Thompson and wife, Zoey of Oak Grove, KY, and Jonathan Craig Thompson, Jr. and Tyler Thompson, both of Gallup, NM; two daughters, RobinThompson-Benally and husband, Justin and Krystal Thompson, all of Gallup, NM; two brothers, Jarrod Thompson and wife, Darla, and Jason Battise, all of Elton; one sister, Carla Thompson of Elton; his children's mother, Tina Thompson of Gallup, NM; one brother-in-law, Anthony "Scooter" Fisher of Jena; one granddaughter, Myla Benally of Gallup, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
Craig is preceded in death by his father, Everette Thompson; his sister, Candace Guidry; and grandparents, Boston and Minnie Obe.
