ELTON-Funeral service for Jonathan "Jon" Craig John, 49, will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Indian Bible Church. Rev. John Cernek and Rev. Chris Skeet will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Monday, September 9, 2013 from 3-9 p.m. with a traditional tribal singing service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Jon was a lifelong resident of Elton. He was currently a member of Elton Assembly of God and in his youth worshiped at St. Peter's Church. He was a loving husband, son, and dad, known as "Tata" and grandfather "Awo". Jon was a licensed electrician and was very handy with his hands in carpentry, machinery and welding. His skills were very useful in his work with the tribe for more than 14 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed animals. His passions were LSU, Saints and golf; he was also an expert video game player. He loved music, especially contemporary gospel. He and his mother would spend countless hours discussing the Bible and its message and he loved Jesus with all his heart. Jon will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy John of Elton; his mother, Marian John of Elton; his children, Daniel Cade John and Mitchell Andre' John of Elton and Chelsy Dayle John and Rafael Maglalang of Eunice; his stepchildren, Marti Armistead of Moss Bluff and Mimi Armistead of Beaumont, TX; one grandchild, Raphael "Peanut" Maglalang of Eunice; his siblings-Roxann Sellers and husband, Greg of Vicksburg, MS, Rod John and wife, Angela of Elton, Tee LaBuff and husband, Terry of Kinder; and Ricky John of Elton; his nieces and nephews to whom he was like a "second dad"-Tyler, Haley, Nicki, Morgan, Alex, Sophia, Mia, Lindsy, Jacob & Lauren, Benjamin and Kenzie.
Jon is preceded in death by his father, Austin John.
