KINDER — Funeral service for John Murphy Marcantel, 89, will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel of Reeves. The Rev. Don Barrett will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Creel Memorial Gardens Chapel on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 4-9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
John was a loving husband and father. He was devoted to his wife, Marie for 65 years. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after more than 30 years of service. He loved nature, fishing and working with wood. John loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews. He never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marie Marcantel of Kinder; his two daughters, Nancy Elam of Reeves and Deborah Chegwidden and husband, Lee of Sarasota, Fla.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth Marcantel; three brothers, Albert Lee Marcantel, Charles Ray Marcantel and Alvin Marcantel; and one sister, Evelyn Green.
