Kinder- Funeral Mass for John Howard Marcantel, 47, will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1PM in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Carlos Garcia and Deacon Fred Reed will officiate.
Visitation will be held in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder Friday from 3pm-10pm with a vigil at 7pm and a rosary will follow. Visitation will continue Saturday at 8am until time of service.
Mr. Marcantel was a native of Kinder and a resident of Washington D.C. He was a graduate of Kinder High School and USL. Mr. Marcantel was the Vice President of Educational Events at CTAM for the past two years. He brought 17 years of project and event management experience in broadcast and cable television to CTAM. Mr. Marcantel went to CTAM from Discovery Communications where he lastly served as the director of competition planning and events. He was also the director for Education Foundation at National Association of Broadcasters, director of Events at Admine.com, and director industry affairs at National Cable Telecommunications Association.
Mr. Marcantel passed away suddenly of a Heart Attack Monday, February 15, 2010.
Survivors include five brothers, Michael Marcantel & wife Karen of Natchitoches, Tonas Marcantel & wife Carla of Kinder, James Marcantel & wife Linda of Leesville, Jerry Emile Marcantel of Kinder, Bernard Luke Marcantel & wife Monique of Kinder; one sister, Phoebe Marcantel Pruett & husband John of Sulphur; godchildren, Mary Elizabeth Pruett & Erin Marcantel Bentley; numerous nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred & Lionel Marcantel; brother, Paul Lionel Marcantel; sister, Pauline Marcantel Willis.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Aids Association, or charity of choice.
