September 4, 1948 – September 15, 2024
Elton-A Mass of Christian Burial honoring John Darrel Guillory, 76, will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, September 18, 2024, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Elton. Revs. Frs. Jose Vattakunnel and Clyde Thomas will officiate. Darrel will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Cemetery in Elton immediately following his services.
Darrel's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service with a vigil service and the Holy Rosary being prayed at 1 o'clock p.m. All of Darrel's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
John affectionately called Darrel, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Linda for 57 years. Darrel enjoyed traveling to New Orleans every year for he and Linda's anniversary to listen to jazz music. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Elton where he attended church regularly, was proud of his Catholic heritage, and served on the Evangelistic team where he was a founding member. Darrel was a history buff and read his bible cover to cover which is far more than what most people read. He spoke Cajun French fluently and loved to dance to French music at D.I.'s Cajun Restaurant. Darrel was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and teaching all his boys to hunt and fish as well. He was also the President of the coon hunting association in Ragley, LA. Darrel was a kind and caring person who will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Darrel's memory include his wife, Linda Marie Guillory; three sons, Deacon Mike Guillory and wife Dina, John Darrel Guillory ll and wife Shelly, and Mark Savio Guillory and wife Kayla, one daughter, Christy Lynn Robinson and husband Keith; two brothers, Andre Guillory and Michael James Guillory and wife Margaret, one sister, Diana Shuff and husband Jacob; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, J.D., and Grace Guillory; and one granddaughter, Mariah Guillory.
