Oberlin- Funeral Mass for Mr. John "Don" Francois, 69, will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 1:00PM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Father Felix will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Durio Cemetery in Oberlin under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held in New Beginnings Assembly of God Church in Oberlin Wednesday from 11AM-10PM with a scripture service at 6:30PM and a rosary at 7PM. Visitation will continue Thursday at 8AM until time of service.
Mr. Francois was a resident of Oberlin and an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War & the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Francois passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Juanita Joubert Francois; one daughter, Michelle Francois Guillory & husband Tony of Port Barre; five grandchildren, Ashley Wyble Faul, Delane Dekerlegand, Dawn Guillory, Kristen Guillory, & Tyler Guillory; 4 great grandchildren, Cayden, Kaybri, Landon, & Layton; German exchange student who became a member of the family, Marvin Wenke; two nephews, Tony Fowler & wife Sherry of Livingston, TX, Kirk Joubert & wife Glenda of Houston, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John & Ruby Francois; two sisters, Mary Fowler & Beverly Joubert.
