Obituary

Kinder-A Mass of Christian Burial for John L. Fontenot, 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Father Rojo Koonathan and Father Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 5-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday morning at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at which time family and friends are invited to follow in procession to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton for John's funeral service.

John was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. He worked in the plants for thirty-two years until his well-deserved retirement. He was a man of strong faith and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton for sixty-two years. John enjoyed helping people, dancing to zydeco music, working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was a member of Knights of Peter Claver and a Corsia member. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish John's memory include his two sons, Herbert Fontenot and wife, Cynthia, of Lake Charles and Terrell Fontenot and wife, Leneva, of Houston, TX; two daughters, Mary Ann Malveaux and husband, Ervin, of Jennings and Andrea Labry and wife, Mary, of Texas City, TX; two brothers, Jimmy Fontenot and wife, Ellen, of OR and Patrick Fontenot and wife, Patty, of TN; four sisters, Ophelia Guillory of Lake Charles, Jerry Guillory of Lake Charles, Margie Sterling and husband, Jr. of Baytown, TX and Anita; sister-in-law, Margaret Fontenot of Kinder; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Fontenot; wife, Willie Mae Fontenot; three sisters, Ethel Lemonia, Lillian Victorian and Joyce LaTour; and one son-in-law, Roland Nix.

The family would like to say a special thanks to John's sister-in-law, Margaret Fontenot, for all of her love, care and support she has shown to John and our family.
