Oberlin-John Jerry Darbonne, 75, passed away November 3, 2013 at his home. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 12 o'clock noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate the service and burial will follow in Oaklin Springs Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, Oberlin beginning Monday, November 4, 2013 from 4-9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Jerry was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry retired with 32 years of service from the Public Service Commission.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Louise Guidry Darbonne of Oberlin; two sons, Scott Darbonne and wife, Patty and Toby Darbonne and wife, Jane, all of Sulphur; six grandchildren-Jerry, Savannah, Jacob, Ashley, Nikki, and Jason; and three great grandchildren-Jagger, Brody and Braedon.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Addie Darbonne; and, two brothers, Russell and Burt Darbonne.
