Mrs. Stark was a native and resident of Fenton. She was a graduate of Fenton High School and she received a degree in education with Magna Cum Laude Honors from University of Louisiana Lafayette, formerly Southwest Louisiana Institute. She taught high school English at Fenton High School before having children. While raising her family, she helped her mother run Lucius Vidrine Farms, which was started by her father and later passed on to her and her sisters.
JoAnn was very active in her community serving on many boards within the community and parish. She played the organ and taught catechism for many years at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton.
Her greatest joys were her family and the farm she grew up on and lived her entire life. She was always ready to bake a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls for someone dropping by or to bring to neighbors and friends.
She loved attending basketball games and especially loved watching her grandchildren compete and perform in baseball, basketball, roller hockey, track & field, and dancing. She loved going to Fairview High School basketball games where her son was the boy's basketball coach.
Mrs. Stark passed away Friday, April 3, 2009.
Survivors include four children, Paul Stark & wife Lucinda of Lacassine, Karen Stark of Fenton, Joe Stark & wife Patty of Lake Charles, Ron Stark & wife Stacy of Grant; nine grandchildren, Alex, Caleb, Kelsie, Nick, Jacob, Madeline, Emily, Gus, & Rudy; two sisters, Marilyn Saleme of Morgan City & Carole Sue Milner of Baton Rouge.
