"The wife and mother is indeed the radiant sun of the family. She shines by her generosity and the way she gives herself to others. She shines by her alertness and watchfulness and by her wise and gentle providing of all that can give joy to her husband and children. She radiates light and warmth."
Funeral services for Mrs. Joan Darville Jackson, 80, will be held Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 3:00p.m. in Kinder United Methodist Church. Rev. Truman Stagg will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held Saturday in Ardoin Funeral Home from 4pm-9pm and will continue Sunday in the funeral home from 9am and in Kinder United Methodist Church from 2pm until time of service.
Mrs. Jackson was a native of McComb, MS and lived most of her life in Kinder. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kinder Garden Club, served on numerous boards for the Kinder United Methodist Church. She received the Cross and Flame Award for her devoted service to the Kinder United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jackson was a graduate of McComb High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. She retired from the Allen Parish School system after teaching at Kinder Elementary for 20 years. Mrs. Jackson passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 in Riverside Hospital in Alexandria.
She leaves to honor her memories, two daughters, Courtney J. Storer, and husband Dr. George Storer of Moss Bluff, Kay J. Buck, and husband Dr. Michael Buck of Alexandria; one brother, Bobby Darville, and wife Joe Ann of McComb, MS; 7 grandchildren, Dr. Bill Storer and wife Kristina, Lara S. Guidroz and husband David, Kris S. Price and husband Kelvin, Zack Storer, Ruthanne Buck, Jane Buck, and Helen Buck and fiancé Richard Chatman; 9 great grandchildren, Drew, Kate, & Wes Price, Cameron Storer, Easton Storer, Meredith Guidroz, Cecilia Guidroz, Thatcher Guidroz, & Hollis Buck.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Badon "Bill' Jackson and great grandson, Hudson Storer.
Pallbearers are Bill Storer, Zack Storer, David Guidroz, Kelvin Price, John Sneve, & Richard Chatman.
