Jerry's family will receive friends and visitors at Trinity Baptist Church in Oakdale on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 2 o'clock p.m. All of Jerry's arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

The world became a little less bright this past Sunday with the passing of Jerry Fontenot. Jerry came into this world on March 7th, 1955.  He was a hard worker, but he loved even harder.

Jerry was a dedicated family man.  He was a loving father, grandfather, and the "fun" uncle.  He loved spending time with his family. After his retirement from his lifelong career as a butcher, Jerry devoted his time to care for Sharon, his wife of 41 years. Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Oakdale High School.  When he could, he loved to chase the white perch and chinquapin around with friends. He also enjoyed arrowhead hunting, grilling for friends and family along with smoking meats, which he was known for all over town.

Those left to cherish Jerry's memory include his two sons, Cody Fontenot and partner Hannah, Adam Fontenot and partner Ashley, one daughter in law, Chantel Fontenot, one brother-in-law Donald Harper Jr. and wife Sherry, one sister-in-law Marilyn Welch and husband Billy; seven grandchildren, Ryleigh, Maverick, Harper, Banner, Austin, Asher, and Tenley, special nieces and nephews, Kaydence, Dylan, Kamryn, and Heather; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Jerry is proceeded in death by his wife, Sharon Lee Fontenot; his parents Tom Faye and Beth Fontenot; one brother, Victor Fontenot; one sister Lynda Plumblee, one son, Dustin Everette Fontenot; paternal grandparents, O'Neal Fontenot and Isabelle "Belle" Johnson, and maternal grandparents, James "Balty" and Nellie Waggoner.

Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Jerry's family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com or on Facebook-Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
