LeBlanc-Funeral service will be held for Jerry Stanton Carpenter, age 72, on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 2pm in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Carlos Garcia will officiate.
Visitation will be held in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder beginning on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 5-9pm with a vigil service and rosary being held at 6:30pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8am until time of service.
Jerry was a resident of LeBlanc having returned to this area after living for several years in New Mexico. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an excellent horseman-having a love for horses since he was a small child. Not only did he enjoy riding but was a talented trainer of race horses and loved riding in trail rides, especially in the mountains. He also had a love for woodworking, crafting fine pieces from the beginning-gathering the wood from the mountains, milling it himself, and crafting beautiful treasures. He was especially proud of the log cabin home he built for he and his wife. He was a devoted husband as well as a loving dad and grandpaw who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Carpenter; his daughters, Donna Chambers and husband, Frank of LeBlanc, Sylvia Carpenter-Pitre of Kinder, and Tyrella Robinson and husband, Michael of Tolar, Texas; one sister, Kathy Daly and husband, Pat of Lafayette; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sylvia Carpenter, his brother, Danny Carpenter, and his son, Billy Joe Carpenter.
