Obituary

Oberlin-Celebration of Life services honoring Jeffery Alan Dodds, 67, will be held at 1 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 2024, at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin. Jeffery will be laid to rest at Whitaker Cemetery in Deridder, LA immediately following his services.

Jeffery's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Monday evening, November 25, 2024, from 6-9 o'clock p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 o'clock p.m. Jeffery's visitation will resume at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Tuesday morning, November 26, 2024, from 11 o'clock a.m. until time of services at 1 o'clock p.m. All of Jeffery's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.

Jeffery, best known as pawpaw Jeff was born on Wednesday, October 2, 1957, to the union of Wally and Kay Dodds in Clinton, IN and was raised Catholic. He played sports in school and was really good at baseball.  Jeff made a career in the oilfield as a mechanic on and offshore. He eventually moved to Texas and then to Louisiana where he met his wife, Rhonda and they have been together 21 years. Jeff loved Nascar, his favorite was Dale Earnhardt and Budweiser. He enjoyed watching the Saints and Chiefs play. One of his favorite things to do was barbecue and boil crawfish for his friends and family. He was a great cook just like his mom.  Jeff loved his wife and spending time with their kids and grandkids. He really enjoyed his early morning calls from his dad.  He was a very humble guy who loved to make jokes. He enjoyed staying home with his wife and his dog Deuce. Jeff was greatly loved by his family and friends and will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Jeff's memory include his wife, Rhonda Cummings Dodds of Deridder, LA; his father, Frank Wallace "Wally" Dodds of Katy, TX; his children, Journey Fockler, wife Crissy, and their children, Andrew, Layne, Tori, Hope, Lonnie, and Barbara of Burkeville, TX; Sara Briscoe, husband Joey and their children, Mason, Noah, and Ella of Oberlin, LA, Nicolett Stratton and her children Rylee and Morgan of Moss Bluff, LA, Jennifer Deel, husband Curtis, and their children, Mariah, Markus, and Layla and their grandchild Hazel,  Jessica White and her children, Jaya, Cruz, and Ayla, Holly Norris and her children, Iden, and Channing, and Jordan Mitchell, husband Freddy and their children Steven Freddy ll, and Avial; and one brother, Steven Lee Dodds and wife Laura of Katy, TX.

Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Kay Dodds; his mother-in-law, Ruth Etta Cummings; and one granddaughter Kirsten.
