Elton-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for J.C. Soileau, 78, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elton on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m.
J.C. was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elton and was a member of the Knights of Peter Clavier. He was also an active member of the Elton community having served as a city councilman, mayor pro temp, volunteer firefighter and with the Elton police department. He was retired from Jeff Davis Parish School Board and was also employed by Players Casino of Lake Charles. He enjoyed sports, especially playing backyard basketball with family and friends. Let it be known that he never fouled or lost a game! J.C. will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Della Soileau, of Elton; five daughters, Cheryl Wilson and Carroll Gobert and husband, Terry, all of Elton, Lindy Gatson and husband, Karl, of Lake Charles, Donna Mouton and husband, Donald, of Duson, and Roslyn Harmon and husband, Larry, of Kinder; one brother, Herbert Soileau and wife, Carolyn Sue, of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Delores Morris and Louella Soileau, both of Baytown, TX; 16 grandchildren; and, 12 great grandchildren.
J.C. is preceded in death by his parents, Orel and Lucy Soileau; one daughter, Evelyn Soileau; and three brothers, Joseph Bludie Soileau, Allen Gene Soileau and Leroy Euric Soileau.
