Kinder-It is with great sorrow that the family of Jameson Poncho, age 89, announce his passing on June 3, 2011 in Savoy Medical Center of Mamou. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10am in Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Kinder. Brother Glenn Ducharme will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery of Elton under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder beginning on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 3-10pm and will continue on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 8am until time of service.
Jameson was an Army veteran who served his country in World War II. He also worked as a machinist with Mike Hooks Dredging for over thirty years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he dearly loved his pets, Dakota, Josey, Jesse, and Jasper. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Myra H. Poncho of Kinder; one son, Lovelin Poncho and wife, Lorenda of Elton; two daughters, Adrian Sylestine of Elton and Brook Poncho of Kinder; five grandchildren, Jaime Hill and husband, Jeremy of Kinder, Nina Fuselier and husband, Bret of Iota, Tana Zeman and husband, Alan of Jennings, Christopher (Chris) Sylestine and wife, Andrea of Elton, and Cheri Gradney and husband, Damion of Elton; as well as eight great grandchildren, Cassidy, Cicily, and Carrigan Hill, Megan Fuselier, Harlem and Dynver Gradney, Nicholas Zeman, and Sydney Sylestine.
Jameson is preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Nicie Poncho, his first wife, Ruth Williams Poncho, his son-in-law, Roland Sylestine, and Lee David Poncho, whom he and his wife, Ruth, raised.
