Robert was born on March 17, 1943 in Elizabeth, Louisiana. He was raised on Horseshoe Drive and attended Elizabeth High School where he was part of the 1962 State Championship Baseball team. Robert was inducted into the Army on April 6, 1965 and he was stationed in Korea. He returned home in 1967.

Robert met his loving wife of 54 years at Avon's Drive-in and they married on May 26, 1967 at First United Pentecostal Church of Oakdale.  After briefly living in Oakdale, they moved back to Horseshoe Drive in Elizabeth where he resided until his passing. In 1971, they started their family with the birth of their first daughter followed by their only son in 1977, and their twin daughters in 1983.

He worked many years in the grocery business in Oakdale and retired in the fall of 2005. After retirement, he enjoyed the Farmers Market, traveling and taking cruises. He took a dream vacation to Alaska in 2014 but, of all places he went, Branson, Missouri was his favorite and that is where he took his final trip in October.

During Robert's life he went by many names, but PawPaw was his favorite. He loved spending time with his grandkids including giving them rides on his riding lawn mower, helping feed his many animals and cheering them on at their sporting events.  He will be remembered for his big laugh, hard work, and love for his family. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
