Kinder-A Mass of Christian Burial for James Fontenot, 61, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder. Rev. Alan Trouille and Deacon Brian Soileau will officiate. Burial will follow in Deshotel's Cemetery located in Ward Community near Oakdale under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. At 10 a.m. there will be a recitation of the Holy Rosary. Family and friends will process to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at 12:45 p.m. for the funeral mass.
James, better known as "Jimmy", was a loving son, father, and friend. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1978. He had many jobs throughout his life but his favorite was working on the historic Pitchfork Ranch in Texas. He spent several years there and made many friends and great memories with his family. He loved being a father and was very proud of his sons. Jimmy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his mother, Janell Sonnier Thigpen of LeBlanc; two sons, Gabriel Fontenot who is serving in the U. S. Air Force currently stationed in Guam, and Michael Logan Fontenot of Tampa, FL; one stepson, Christopher Brooks of Tampa, FL; companion and mother of his children, Kelly Kerr of Tampa, FL; father, Edrick Fontenot and stepmother, Betty Fontenot both of Kinder, as well as many other family members and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ducles and Daya Deshotel Sonnier and his paternal grandparents Isom and Emily Fuselier Fontenot.
