Kinder-Homegoing Services for James "Jimmy" Clifford Hicks, 85, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Grace Community Church. Rev. Rod Nesmith will officiate. Burial will follow at Lyles Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors beginning Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 5-9 p.m. at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Visitation will resume Friday morning at Grace Community Church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to all. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rita, for sixty years. He served our country as a chef in the United States Army for two years. Jimmy was a man of strong faith and attended Eastwood Pentecostal Church from 1962-1988. He then began attending Grace Community Church formerly known as, First United Pentecostal Church of Kinder, from 1988 up until his passing. He absolutely loved traveling with his wife. They lived in their RV for thirteen years to enjoy traveling around the country. Jimmy drove a truck all of his married life to help support and provide for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted son to his mother; Jimmy adored her and took care of her until her passing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Jimmy's memory include his wife, Rita Jane Hicks; one son, Jody Hicks and wife, Lynn, of Orange, TX; one daughter, Shelli Hicks (Ronald LeBlanc) of Moss Bluff; two brothers, Roy Hicks and wife, Nethajean, of Moss Bluff and Sherald Hicks and wife, Nelda, of Zwolle; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Hicks of Kinder; six grandchildren, Jeremy Hicks, Chantel Hicks Allen, Candace Vince, Kolten LeBlanc, Lexi LeBlanc and Olivia Hicks; and five great grandchildren, Makayla Hicks, Conner LeJuine, Jason LeJuine, Grayson Allen and Lawson Allen.
Jimmy is preceded in death by parents; one son, Blaine Hicks; one daughter, Holly Hicks; two brothers, Arnold and Ray Hicks; one grandchild, O'Shan LeBlanc; and one great grandchild, Emilie Hicks.
