Obituary

Oberlin-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Irvin Bass, 89, on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 12 o'clock noon at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel.
The family will receive visitors at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Irvin proudly served our country in the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Mardi Gras Association. He was a resident of St. Francis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Survivors include his sister, Laura Bass Foret of Eunice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irvin is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Marie Bass; three brothers, Calvin, Nelson, and Widney Bass; and two sisters, Ethel Landreneau and Lady Mae Duplechin.
