Elton-Mrs. Ida Marie Miller, 93, left this temporary life to begin her eternal
life with her heavenly father on September 29, 2012. Ida was born on
September 15, 1919 to Joseph Gessner Dubois and Marie Gautreaux
Dubois and grew up in Crowley, La. She married Preston Miller, her
husband of 61 years on May 4, 1940 and lived the remainder of her life
In Elton, La. She was his hard working partner on the farm, enjoyed country
living and her role as homemaker. She was a wonderful mother and enjoyed
cooking for her family and company. She loved her Lord, her family and her
church, First Baptist of Elton, where she was a faithful member and active as
a children's Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her three children-Dr. Alllen Miller and wife, Charlene
of Jennings; J. D. Miller and wife, Ludie and Mary Priscilla (Miller) Lafosse, all of
Elton; her grandchildren, Cheri Lynn (Miller) Turgeon and husband, Regis and Scott
Allen Miller, all of Jennings, Roxanne Milner and husband, Marty of Carlyss, Stacy
Fuller and husband, Dustin of Moss Bluff, Shane Miller and Rachel Miller of
Elton, and Blaine Lafosse of Oberlin; great grandchildren, Trevor, Macie,
McKenzie and Carson Turgeon, Sloan and Molly Milner, Slate and Kilee Fuller,
Shaina, Lydia Paige and Preston Blade Miller, Sage Baumler and Jamilyn Oro,
Conner and Matthew Reed; son in-law, Paul Reed and wife, Morgan; sister, Theresa (Dubois) Smith of Moss Bluff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Emily
(Dubois) Lormand and Rosalie (Dubois) Cormier; and two grandchildren, Stephanie
Lafosse and Christine (Lafosse) Reed.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday,October 3, 2012 at 10am in the Ardoin Funeral Home
Chapel of Elton. The Rev. Pat Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery
under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5-9pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 and on Wednesday from 8am until time of service at Ardoin Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home (P. O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA. 71211) in Mrs. Ida's memory.
She and the family would like to thank Laverne Putnam, Betty Jo Agullard and
Nancy Hamilton for being her special friends. Special thanks also go to the staff of
Basile Care Center.
