Elton-A Mass of Christian Burial for Hubert "Sonny" Thomas, 72, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Jose Vattakunnel will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.

Sonny was a loving husband, father and uncle. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary "Maxie", for fifty-two years, as well as, a devoted father to his daughter, Michelle. She was his everything. He was a man of strong faith and very proud of his Catholic heritage. Sonny enjoyed praying his Rosary, reading his Bible and going to church. He worked as a custodian for Elton High School for twenty-five years. He loved being outdoors, working in his yard and doing woodwork; he could do anything with his hands. Sonny was an avid football fan. His favorite teams were the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. Most of all, Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family. He was dearly loved by everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Sonny's memory include his wife, Mary "Maxie" Jane Thomas of Elton and one daughter, Michelle Thomas of Lake Charles.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Herbert "Piyo" Thomas; and one sister, Loretta Marks.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Lafayette General, Dr. Robinson and Harbor Hospice for all of their love, care and compassion shown to their family during this difficult time.
