Elton-Funeral services for Hollis Bertrand, 69, will be held on
Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11AM in Ardoin Funeral Home of
Elton. Rev. Vernon Martindale will officiate. Burial will follow
in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home
of Elton.
Visitation will begin in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on
Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 4-9PM. Visitation will continue on
Monday, March 14, 2011 from 8AM until time of service.
Hollis was a resident of Lake Charles, but was a native and
former resident of Elton. After his high school education, he became a
cross country truck driver. He loved his work as a truck driver and
won awards for being an outstanding driver. He also won safety awards,
as well. He served his country in the United States Army and went
overseas in Germany. He enjoyed and loved fishing and being
with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his three sons, Ronald Jones of Lufkin, TX,
Fred Jones of Joplin, MS, and Eddie Bertrand of Oberlin; two
daughters, Scylena Bertrand of Ragley, and Hollie Carrier and husband,
Clint of Oberlin; one sister, Annie Manuel of Elton; his fiancée,
Sherry Fontenot; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Toudile Bertrand,
one brother, Waylin Bertrand, one daughter, Margaret Ann Jones, one nephew,
John Lee Manuel, and his brother-in-law, John L. Manuel.
