Elton-Funeral service for Hilda LaFleur Cart, 83, will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11 A.M. in First Baptist Church of Elton. Rev. Jeff Day will officiate and be assisted by Rev. Pat Thomas and Rev. Aaron Shamp. Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 10 A.M. until 9 P.M. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Hilda was a lifelong resident of Elton. She worked as Cafeteria Manager at Elton High School where she retired with over 23 years of service. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Elton for many years. Hilda was a devoted wife of more than 46 years to her husband, Leward. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed planning family gatherings. She also enjoyed sewing, needlepointing, and caring for her plants. She adored her family and time spent with them above all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Bert Cart and wife, Cindy of Elton, and Doug Cart and wife, Patricia, of Eunice; two daughters, Janet Tilley and husband, Jim, of Sulphur, and Lisa Shamp and husband, Michael, of Opelousas; two brothers, Lloyd LaFleur and wife, Rita, of Hallsville, TX, and Irvin LaFleur and wife, Alice, of Cumming, GA; four sisters, Leola LaFleur and husband, Curtis, of Orange, TX, Elaine Martindale and husband, Vernon, of Elton; Louella Day and husband, Homer, of Buna, TX, and Linda Richard and husband, Jim, of Lafayette; ten grandchildren; and, nine great grandchildren.
Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, Batson and Bessie LaFleur, and her husband, Leward Cart.
