Kinder- Harry K. Wakeley, 77, died at home Tuesday morning, February 26, 2008. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27 from 8a.m.-10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow with the Rev. Carlos Garcia officiating the service.
He was born August 22, 1930 in Grand Rapides, Michigan, lived in Houston, Texas and was a resident of Kinder for the last 44 years. He was a field engineer in the oil business working numerous foreign assignments, was employed by Conoco Pipeline, and later the owner of Kinder Electrical Service.
Mr. Wakeley was the son of Harry Kent Wakeley and Genevieve Womack Wakeley. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ella V. Tessier Wakeley, and five children; a son, Kent Wakeley and wife Cindy of Houston, Texas, and four daughters, Laure Smith and husband David, Linda Bard and husband Bruce both of Kinder, Leigh Soileau and husband Ben of Lafayette, and Barbara Lungaro and husband, Paul of Lake Charles.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason and Brian Chachere, Mac (James) and Michael McLachlan, Christopher, Andrew, and Zachary Soileau, and Nick and Luke Wakeley. Survivors include five additional grandchildren, Kathryn Chachere Wyatt, Kate and Erin Wakeley, and Sarah and Charles Lungaro II; and four great grandchildren.
