Kinder- Funeral Mass for Mr. Harrison 'Harro" Savant, 84, will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Carlos Garcia, Monsignor Ronald Groth, & Rev. Terry Bushnell will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Indian Village Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
Visitation will be held in the funeral home Friday from 11am-9pm and will continue Saturday at 8am until time of service. A special VFW Taps presentation will be held Friday at 5:30pm with a vigil service at 6pm and a rosary will follow.
Mr. Savant was a native & resident of Indian Village. During WWII, he was a MSGT with the 452nd Bomb Group Air Force Division and was a Prisoner of War (POW) in Germany for 14 months.
Mr. Savant was an usher at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel in Indian Village, a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, & the VFW.
Mr. Savant worked hard to provide for his loving wife and children. He worked for the family owned Indian Village Sawmill for many years. He was also a retired school bus driver that was active in the Band Booster and a retired farmer. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Mr. Savant passed away Monday, September 1, 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bernice Fontenot Savant of Indian Village; three sons, Ronnie Savant & wife Jeanne of Kinder, Randy Savant & wife Charlene of Kinder, & Todd Savant of Indian Village; three daughters, Chris Reon & husband Joe of Lake Charles, Pat Broussard & husband Burt of Kinder, Traci Kent & husband Reagan of Indian Village; two brothers, Wallace Savant of Indian Village, Bill Savant & wife Lillie of Indian Village; one sister, Dot White & husband Lee of Indian Village; 15 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren.
