Oakdale-A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Harold J. Miller, 79, will be held at 10 o'clock a.m. on Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakdale. Rev. Vijaya Peddoju will officiate. Harold will be laid to rest in St. Ann Cemetery in Mamou immediately following his services.
Harold's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral home of Oakdale on Friday evening, January 31, 2025, from 4 to 8 o'clock p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 5 o'clock p.m. All of Harold's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Harold was a very generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born in Iota, La. On April 9, 1945, and was a graduate of Iota High School in 1962. He attended college U.S.L. and graduated in 1967 with a degree in Vocational Agriculture. He was a teacher in Natchitoches parish for a year and a half before teaching in Oakdale, La. for thirty-two and a half years.
Harrold was married to Georgana Manuel in Mamou, La. At St. Ann Catholic Church. They raised a daughter together, Catherine Jeanette, who married Donald Wayne Guillory.
Harold belonged to many religious, civil, scholastic, and Southwest Oakdale water system organizations, just to name a few. Harold mentored numerous young men and women and helped them participate in many school activities. Harold was an honest, kind, and caring person who will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Harold's memory include his wife, Georgana Miller; Daughter, Catherine Jeanette Guillory and husband Donald Wayne; two grandchildren, Amber Fontenot and partner Justin Crochet, and Nicholas Fontenot and wife Megan; eight great-grandchildren, Chlo'e, Jordan, Gabrial, Payton, Bailey, Brylan, Asher, and Braxton; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Laris Miller; three brothers, Terry, Merlin, and Kahnray Miller; and a host of nieces and nephews.
