Obituary

Elton-Funeral service for Harold "Boy" John, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Rev. Dore' Langley will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 3-10 p.m. A singing service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Harold, affectionately known as "Boy", was a loving father and grandfather. He worked hard over the years to provide for his family. He was a member of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and was very proud of his heritage. He loved his language and strived to promote his culture. He was a die-hard fisherman and, also loved to sing and play music, travel, cook and spending time with his family. He was very close to his sisters and especially loved his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was a very proud man whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his three sons-Terrell John and wife, Shantina, Jonas John, and Dakota John and wife, Alisha, all of Elton; one daughter-Valerie Mettz and husband, Brandon, of Lumberton, TX; three sisters-Katherine Thompson of Livingston, TX, Anna Thompson and husband, Clamon, and Leola Sylestine, all of Elton; 10 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Elsie John; and one brother, Stanley John.
