Obituary

Elton-Funeral service for Harley Bruchhaus, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Rev. Stephen Bellard will officiate. Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 3-9 p.m. at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Harley was a lifelong resident of Elton. He was a member of Elton United Methodist Church where he served in various positions throughout the years. Harley was a rice and bean farmer. He was an active supporter of 4-H and FFA. He also enjoyed participating in tractor shows and tractor pulls. He was especially proud of his antique tractors. He was a member of the "Two Cylinder" Club and the Acadiana Tractor Club. Harley was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his three sons, Charles Bruchhaus and wife, Debbie, of Elton, Kurt Bruchhaus and wife, Cindy, of Moss Bluff, and Brett Bruchhaus and wife, Bridgett, of Elton; one daughter, Uvonne Domingue and husband, Leo, of Jennings; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and, 4 nieces.
Harley is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Bruchhaus; his parents, W.C. and Ruth Bruchhaus; and, his brother, Laurence Bruchhaus.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and to Harley's caregiver, Travis Cary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elton United Methodist Church.
