November 30, 1957 – June 12, 2025
Elton-Gregory Keith "Pop" Deshotel, 67, was born on November 30, 1957, and entered our Father's kingdom on Thursday, June 12, 2025. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton. All arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, beginning at 4 o'clock p.m. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6 o'clock p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8 o'clock a.m. until the time of service.
Greg retired from Citgo Petroleum and was a passionate outdoorsman. Greg loved his Catholic faith and was an active member of A.C.T.S. and Kolbe retreats. He loved working in the yard with his loving wife, Gwen, as well as making beef jerky in his smokehouse and making sausage with his family after deer season. Greg was an avid fisherman and loved being out on the water as well as being out in nature while camping. He loved spending time with his children, but really preferred to be with his grandchildren. Greg was always willing to lend a helping hand with any and all "projects" that came his way. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Greg will be forever missed by all that knew him.
Those left to cherish Greg's memory include his devoted wife of 47 years, Gwen Deshotel; three sons-Nick Deshotel (Courtney), Trent Deshotel (Tessa), and Scott Deshotel (Amber); one daughter-Allyson Deshotel; six grandchildren-Caleb, Chloe', Lainie, Avery, Jayce, and Joey; as well as his sister, Billie Jane Davenport; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Greg is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Joseph "Picket" Deshotel; his mother, Jane Deshotel, and his sister, Paula Gail Deshotel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that masses be offered in Greg's memory to St. Paul Catholic Church of Elton, St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Hathaway, or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Lakeland.
