Kinder- Funeral service for Mrs. Grace Agnes Houston Cornish, 88, will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11a.m. in Kinder Bible Church. Rev. Robert Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery, which was originally her family's cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the church Saturday from 9a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Cornish passed away March 3, 2008 of complications from pneumonia. She was born August 29, 1919 to John Matthews Houston and Grace McRill Houston in Kinder, LA. She was raised in Kinder and lived there until she retired to Austin, TX in 1998 to be near her son.
She married Merrill A. Cornish, Sr. and had two children, Merrill Jr. and Ann. Her husband pre-deceased her in 1960, her daughter in 2000.
She is survived by her son.
She was always interested in local history and was a member of the Allen Genealogical and Historical Society. She wrote Houston Family History and co-authored Looking Back at Kinder, stories of the original families of Kinder.
