Kinder-Funeral services for Glories Lavan, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Rudell Kirklin will officiate. Burial will follow at Botley Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
Glories was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved shopping, fishing, gardening and sitting on her porch in her rocking chair. Glories enjoyed cooking. Her family says she made the best pineapple cake and sweet potato pie. More than anything, Glories loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored all of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish Glories' memory include her husband, Alfred Lavan of Elton; one son, J.R. Richard King, Jr. of Kinder; eight step-sons, Ossie Lavan of Elton, Alfred Lavan, Jr. of Houston, TX, Anthony Lavan and wife, Stephanie Jacobs, of Houston, TX, Adrean Lavan and wife, Jennifer, of Kinder, Kendrick Lavan and wife, Melanie, of Oberlin, Erick Lavan and wife, Telisa, of Kinder, Derrick Lavan of Kinder and Paul Lavan and wife, Bernetta, of Oberlin; three daughters, Yolanda Metoyer and husband, Ronald, Sr., of Lake Charles, Nicole Rochelle Jordan and husband, Jonathan Jordan, of Kinder and Ursula Francis of Kinder; two step-daughters, Loudella Cooper and husband, Isaac, of Sour Lake, TX and Vanessa Lavan of Houston, TX; four brothers-in-law, Paul Lavan and wife, Betty, of Shepherd, TX, Herbert Lavan and wife, Barbara, of Kinder, Alvin Moorehead of Lake Charles and Melvin Moorehead of Tracy, CA; three sisters, Nellie Mason of Houston, TX, Willie Mae Arrendell of Abbeville and Lillian Lavan of Oberlin; fifty-eight grandchildren; sixty-six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glories is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Gibson and Mattie Hulitte; three brothers, Morris Ross, Nelson Lavan and Chester Lavan; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann King and Barbara Ann William; and mother-in-law, Edna Moorehead.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Glories caregiver, Tara Ray, for taking such good care of their mom, as well as Kawanda Sheppard for all of her love and support she has shown to our family.
