"I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Glenn Ray Thompson was born to the union of the late Clarence Jack Thompson and Bernie Slate on January 28,1957 in Elizabeth LA. Glenn met and later married Sylvia A. Ceaser on July 14, 1979. To this union four children were born, Thaddeus (Yolanda) Thompson of Mamou, LA; Mary (Timothy) Lavergne of Basile, LA; Daisey Thompson of Basile, LA and Phillip (Dameshia) Thompson of Aviano, Italy.
Glenn left high school and immediately began his career which was one of his favorite pastimes throughout life which was known as WORK! He started his career where he was employed on several jobs, consisting of Boise Cascade, Oakdale, LA, which he worked alongside his father. He then continued his work history at Local Union 207, Lake Charles, LA; Bunge Corporation, Mermentau, LA; Jeff Davis Head start, Elton, LA and Lewis Flying Service, Basile, LA. Glenn, then became self-employed, which he became known as a jack-of-all trades. If you ask anyone, he could perform work which catered to the young or old. Glenn spent his time as a self-employed entrepreneur which includes operating a lawn business, cutting wood in the winter, repairing vehicles and houses, farming rice and crawfish, being a self-proclaimed doctor and operating his own taxi service. He could repair anything he set his mind and hands to. Glenn was the man with a plan to fix every issue or problem. Glenn dedicated his life to being a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a super dad in his family's eyes, along with so many others. He enjoyed working in his yard to ensure his plants and grass always looked immaculate. Glenn also enjoyed listening to music and when the time was right, he performed some impressive dance moves. He also enjoyed his alone time, as he would end every day with a chill session in his outdoor kitchen. He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it. A great man of strength, determination, faith, honesty and character. Glenn was an example for all that knew and loved him. Due to these explicit characteristics, he was associated with the upkeep of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the surrounding grounds for at least thirty years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bernie (Slate) Thompson; grand-daughter, Naomi Thompson; and two brothers Michael Thompson and Claude Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife of 43 years, Sylvia A.
