Geraldine (Jeri) Lormand Fossett

Geraldine Lormand Fossett, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, with her devoted family by her side.
Jeri was born July 30, 1937, in Kinder, LA, and was happily married to Hubert Ray Fossett for 38 years. Hubert and Jeri were married in Kinder and lived throughout the states before returning home to Kinder in 1963. "Ms. Jeri" worked for Dr. Allemand in Kinder for seventeen years and was also a devoted member of the Because We Care senior citizens group and the Red Hat Society. Jeri was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking, hosting parties, bowling, and working in her yard. She believed family was the most important aspect of life and instilled these values in her children and grandchildren. She was greatly admired in the community and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Ronald and Pam Fossett of Lake Charles, Bruce and Karen Fossett Savant, Charlie and Candie Fossett Istre, all of Kinder. Her grandchildren include Travis Fossett, and wife Angela, of Baton Rouge; Chrissie Fossett Gubancsik, and husband Cory, of Lake Charles; Matt Savant, and wife Amanda, of Alexandria; Jessica Savant of Lake Charles; and Kailey and Kortney Istre of Kinder. The "Greats" include Bree, Gabbie, Logan, and Aiden. She is survived by her two sisters, Helen "Blackie" Savant of Kinder, and Juanita Nixon Simmons of DeRidder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Ray Fossett, and two sisters Patricia Lormand and Marie Young. Also by her parents, Richard "Bee" Lormand and Edith Fontenot Lormand, as well as her firstborn granddaughter, Heather Leigh Fossett.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Travis Fossett, Matt Savant, and Cory Gubancsik, and nephews, Ike Fawcett, Jr., Randy Fawcett, and Jeff Fawcett.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 5th at Indian Village United Pentecostal Church. The Revs. Terry Bushnell and Jerry Snider Jr. will officiate. Internment will be at the Green Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9 P.M. Thursday November 4th and from 8 A.M. Friday.
