Kinder-With heavy hearts, the family of Geraldine "Gerry" Fontenot, age 79, announce her passing.  Geraldine passed away with her loved ones at her side on August 23, 2019.  Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Indian Village Baptist Church.  Rev. E.J. McCann and Rev. Kevin Willis will officiate.  Burial will follow in Jessie Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Indian Village Baptist Church from 3-9 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019.  Visitation will resume at the church on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Gerry was a devoted wife to her husband, "Blackie", for 64 years.  She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Together with her husband, they raised their four children-Laine, Kim, Jill, and Ginger.  Gerry was a member of Indian Village Baptist Church, where she sang and played the piano with the music ministry.  She also worked as office manager for over 30 years with the Southwest Allen Parish Water District #2.  She enjoyed shopping, watching movies, listening to gospel music, and, most of all, spending time with her family.  Gerry was caring and loving to everyone.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Norman "Blackie" Fontenot of Kinder; one son, Laine Fontenot, of Kinder; three daughters, Kim Mire, Jill Holman and husband, Douglas, and Ginger Fontenot-McDaniel and husband, Scott, all of Kinder; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Lessie Johnson; and her sister, Virginia Fontenot.
