Obituary

Elton-Funeral service for Geraldine "Toot" Eaves Doget, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Jose Vattakunnel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Elton.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Visitation will resume Thursday morning May 24, 2018 at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Toot was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, wife and sister. She was a devoted wife to her first husband, Edmond Eaves, for 23 years until his passing in August 1974. She was also a devoted wife to her second husband, Louis Doget, for 20 years until his passing in September 1995. Toot enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, watching wrestling, and cooking meals for her family. She made the best sweet dough pies, homemade bread and cornbread. She was very proud of her French heritage and loved French music and dancing. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a lifelong resident of Elton. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Toot will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Toot's memory include her three sons, Michael Eaves of LeBlanc, Kim Eaves and wife, Sherry, of Elton, and Mitchell Doget and wife, Melissa, of Sulphur; four daughters, Kathy Duplechin and husband, Wayne, of Basile, Brenda David and husband, Willen, of Eunice, Donna Johnson of Kinder, Betty Jo Bertrand and Pat Kebodeaux of Kinder; four brothers, Leebertman Ardoin and wife, Judy, Donald Smith and wife, Shirley, James Smith, and Michael Smith all of Ville Platte; four sisters, Janice Reed, Barbara Kruszynskey, Janella Vaughn and Beverly Fontenot all of Ville Platte; 27 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Toot is preceded in death by her parents Lenson Ardoin and Lucy Smith; two husbands, Edmond Eaves and Louis Doget; two grandchildren, Casey Jo Johnson and Daniel Duplichan; one daughter-in-law, Connie Eaves; two brothers, Lenson Ardoin, Jr. and Jeffery Smith, Jr.; and one sister, Vernita "Sis" Martin.
