Kinder-Funeral service for Gerald Duplechin, Sr., 75, will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Rev. Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.
The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 3-9 p.m. with the Vigil at 6 followed by the Holy Rosary. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Gerald was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and collecting things. He especially loved spending time with his family. Gerald adored his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda, for 42 years until her passing in October 2005. He was a member of the National Guard, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, and a 4 th Degree Knight. He worked in Lake Charles as a superintendent for the city for 27 years until his retirement in 1998. Gerald will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Gerald's memory include his four sons, Gerald "Tee" Duplechin, Jr. of Kinder, Jason Paul Duplechin and wife, Stacy, of Kinder, Eric Duplechin of Lake Charles, and Derek Duplechin of Kinder; one daughter, Katrina Thigpen and husband, Collin "Monk", of Kinder; one brother, Dillard Duplechin of Mamou; one sister, Nancy Kennedy and husband, James, of DeRidder; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Savoy, Dominique Duplechin, Brennan Duplechin, Michael Duplechin, Joshua Duplechin, Kayla Duplechin, Derek Ardoin, Brittany Ardoin, Matthew Duplechin, Keiano Sweat, Zachary Duplechin, and Coy Duplechin; and 8 great grandchildren, Branson Savoy, Lydia Savoy, Sawyer Savoy, Ben Duplechin, Blayson Broussard, Clara-Mae Reed, Malli Thigpen, and Kemper Thigpen.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Alix Duplechin; spouse, Linda Cormier Duplechin; one brother, Roger Duplechin; and two sisters, Jane Havenar and Grady Dugas.
Pallbearers to serve will be D.J. Savoy, Brennan Thigpen, Michael Thigpen, Joshua Duplechin, Derek Ardoin, Zachary Duplechin, Matthew Duplechin, and Dewey Dugas.
