Kinder-Funeral service for Rev. Gerald Edwin Davis, Sr., 93, will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the chapel of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Steve James, Rev. Greg Bath, and Rev. Donald Ray Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 3-9 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday morning from 8 A.M. until time of service.
Rev. Davis was a resident of Elton prior to going to live in Jennings at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. He attended Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. He served as an Assembly of God pastor for more than sixty years. His last twenty years was spent as a missionary pastor for the Coushatta Tribe of Elton. Rev. Davis was a loving husband of 65 years prior to the passing of his wife, Remigia. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Rev. Davis is finally home in heaven with his wife and parents and, most of all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons, Rev. Frank Davis and wife, Carol, of Tupelo, MS, Rev. Stephen P. Davis and wife, Barbra, of Watonga, OK, and Gerald E. Davis, Jr. and wife, Debbie, of West Monroe; two daughters, Geraldine Sexton and husband, Sam, of Berryville, TX and Reba D. Byrd and husband, Richard, of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
