Dick was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and focused on the quality of that time over quantity. He never missed an opportunity to pass down the skills, knowledge, and life lessons he had amassed over the years. Dick enjoyed being outdoors with his family whether he was cheering them on at the ballpark, or sitting on a rice field levee, making them laugh with his special sense of humor. He was also part of a tight knit group of friends. They spent many hours together, as part of their daily routines, at the café and the drug store solving the world's problems and poking fun at one another. Dick, a member of Kinder Bible Church for more than 25 years, made sure that he spent plenty of time alone studying God's word and the lessons it contains.
Those left to cherish Dick's memory include his son, Bryan Odom and wife, Rachelle, of Sulphur; four daughters, Beth Odom of Shreveport, Jennifer Odom of Shreveport, Mary Johnson of Lakeland, FL, and Colleen Odom of Kinder; two brothers, Bob Odom and wife, Pat, of Kinder and John Odom and wife, Tracey, of Kinder; two sisters, Jane Ortego and husband, Donnie, of Kinder, and Linda Kennard and husband, Joel Johnson, of Memphis, TN; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Betty Odom; and one brother, Bill Odom.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Camp Pearl in memory of Dick.
