Kinder-Funeral service for George Merritt King, 81, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the chapel of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home. Bro. Glen Ducharme will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 3-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Merritt was a loving father and grandfather. He worked in auto sales at Albert Karam Ford for over twenty years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, gardening, and working with his tractor. Merritt also enjoyed doing taxidermy work for his friends and local hunters. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish Merritt's memory include his son, George Merritt King V of Church Point; one daughter, Alison King Greene and husband, Jimmy of Sugartown; one grandson, Justin Marc Young of DeRidder; nieces and nephews-James King of Garland, TX, Jason King and wife, Carolyn of Murphy, TX, Ronda Gantt and Cari King Tumey, both of Dallas, TX; cousin and close friend, Sam Pruitt, of Lake Charles; and his dear friend from college days, Kelly McWright.
Merritt was preceded in death by his parents, Lexie and George Merritt King III and one brother, Jerry King.
