Obituary

Kinder-Celebration of Life services honoring George Edward "Ed" Fruge, 87, will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10 o'clock a.m. at Green Oak Bible Church in Kinder. Revs. Bill Smith and Mike Riggs will officiate. Ed will be laid to rest at Green Oak Cemetery in Kinder immediately following his services.

Ed's family will receive friends and visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5-9 p.m. Ed's visitation will resume at Green Oak Bible Church in Kinder on Saturday morning, July 6, 2024, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Ed's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder.

Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Brenda Fruge for 66 years. He was an active member of Green Oak Bible Church where he attended church regularly. Ed was a hard worker and worked diligently in multiple jobs to support his family. He worked for Centurytel telecommunications company for 39 years, he owned and operated Fruge's Christmas Tree Farm, and continued as owner and operator of Ed Fruge Tree Service until the time of his death.  Ed was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed an array of outdoor activities but especially hunting. He loved and adored his family and cherished every memory he made with them. He loved to cook for his family and was a wonderful cook. Ed was a very kind and caring person with a huge heart, who would help anyone in need. He always put others first even if it may have been inconvenient. His love and compassion touched many people, and he will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Ed's memory include his wife, Brenda Sue Smith Fruge; three sons, Don Edward Fruge and wife Linda, Paul Douglas "Doug" Fruge and wife Sharie, and Ronald "Drew" Fruge and wife Rolinda; eleven grandchildren, Jeffery Fruge and wife Lydia, Natalie Morris and husband David, Rachelle Fruge, Kristy Frost and husband Eric, Jessica Williams and husband Darrell, Kristal Ortego, Kayla Shipley and husband Tanner, Blake Ortego and wife Charlene, Karaline Ortego, Joshua Fruge and wife Danielle, and Rebekah Fruge; sixteen great grandchildren, Scott, Harrison, Maryjane, Malaki, Eli, Brianna, Christian, Lakelyn, Alysha, Drake, Lillian, Makayla, Emma, Quinn, Leo, and Jonah; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson "Jeff" and Amelia Fruge; two brothers, William, and Nookie Fruge; and one great grandson, Jude Fruge.
