Glenmora-Celebration of Life services honoring Genneva Katherine Alston, 89, will be held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Thursday afternoon, August 8, 2024, at Glenmora Baptist Church in Glenmora, LA. Rev. Neil Treme will officiate. Genneva will be laid to rest at LeBlanc Cemetery in LeBlanc, LA, immediately following her services.
Genneva's family will receive friends and visitors at Glenmora Baptist Church in Glenmora, LA, on Thursday morning, August 8, 2024, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of Genneva's arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Genneva was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a very selfless person and a giver, and she loved to help and care for others. She was a faithful and devoted wife to her husband James Roy Alston Jr. until his passing in 2003. One of Genneva's greatest passions was serving God. She was a devoted member of Glenmora Baptist Church where she served her church and her church family by teaching Sunday school for all ages, singing in the choir, working in the kitchen as well as preparing food, and driving the church van for Golden Nuggets. Genneva loved to bake and enjoyed baking brownies and cakes for anyone she felt needed them. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed mowing her grass. Genneva was a very kind and caring person and will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Genneva's memory include one son, George Roy Alston, and wife Toni; one daughter, Cheryl Cloessner and husband Jimmie; two sisters, Georgia M. Landry, and Mary F. Morrow and husband Charles; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Genneva is preceded in death by her parents, George, and Ethel LeBlanc; her husband, James Roy Alston Jr.; one brother, Charles Ray LeBlanc; and one granddaughter, Carrie Montgomery.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Kris Cloessner, Joshua LeBouef, Trypp Thomas, Laigan Melder, Christopher Alston, and David Landry.
Genneva's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Brighton Bridge Hospice, Rachel, Don, Anna, Kristi, Cindy, and Greg as well as the Prairie Manor Nursing Home for all their love, care and compassion while taking care of her.
