Funeral service for Genevee James, 74, of Pitkin, will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 12 o'clock noon at Gravel Hill Baptist Church.  Rev. Arlen Smith and Rev. Mickey Christy will officiate.  Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Gravel Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday evening with visitation from 6 p.m. until midnight.   Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Genevee was born August 7, 1947 in Leesville, Louisiana to Oliver and Evelyn Goins.  She passed away from this life on November 7, 2021with her family at her side.  She was the best Mom, Maw Maw, Aunt G, and Sister you could ever ask for; and, what she loved the most was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandsons, nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, planting flowers in her yard, canning, cooking, and baking the best pies you've ever tasted.  She loved to joke and she always told it like it was.  "So, if you didn't want her opinion, you better not ask her; and sometimes she would give it to you anyway!"  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish  Genevee's memory include her son, Alton Jeffery James; her daughter, Gennifer Thompson; two sisters, Barbara Atteberry and Jennell Johnson; three grandchildren, Megan Ford (Breanne), Tiffany Deason (Laython), and Sarah James; and two great grandchildren, Coby and Cooper Deason.

Genevee is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Evelyn Goins; two sons, Paul and Randall James; three sisters, Bonnie Johnson and Sybil Johnson, and Nelwyn McNamara.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers for Genevee's service include Cliff Atteberry, Greg Johnson, Tim Johnson, Luke Landry, Bain Johnson, Calvin West, Chad Atteberry and Justin Thompson.
