Obituary
Oberlin-Funeral service for Geneva (Gene) Deshotel, 75, will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10am in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Oberlin. Fr. Felix Anyikwa will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery of Soileau under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
Visitation will begin on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 3-9pm in the new Allen Parish Funeral Home-Oberlin Chapel with a rosary being recited by Deacon Norris at 7pm. The family will continue to receive visitors at the Oberlin Chapel on Tuesday morning from 8am until time of service.
Gene is survived by two brothers, Herman Deshotel of Oberlin and Walter Deshotel, Jr. of Iowa, LA; one sister, Esyleta Langley of Oberlin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucinda and Walter Deshotel, Sr. and her sister, Thelma Bartlett.
