Kinder-Funeral services for Gary Lee Nielsen, 50, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Kinder. Rev. Jim Voglewede will officiate. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Gary was a loving son, father, grandfather and brother. He moved with his family from Texas to Kinder at the age of two. He loved growing up in the country on a farm and the woods where he learned to hunt and fish. He and his brother, Spencer, spent a lot of their childhood roaming the woods together hunting and fishing. His dad, Ward, taught him to restore cars. Mechanics came easy to Gary, so it was an easy choice to become a millwright like his dad. When he became a dad, Gary was so happy. His little blonde headed girl became the apple of his eye. Then 18 months later he was the proud dad of a baby boy. These two children were always the center of his world. He has always been so very proud of them. Gary shined when he was able to be with them. Gary loved his nieces and nephews very much. He had a love for the Lord. He made the decision to be baptized at the age of 10. He stayed faithful to God throughout his life. He enjoyed taking Brittney, Tristan and his nephews, Chase and Logan to church with him. Due to a heart condition, his life was forever changed. He struggled for ten years with his illness. He was unable to work, and this frustrated him to no end. Gary looked forward to visits from his family. He was so happy when he could see his children and his beautiful grandson. Gary knew that Brittney and Tristan had to make sacrifices in order to visit him as much as they did. They have been faithful to their daddy. Gary will forever be missed by his family. Fond memories will keep him alive in all our hearts. Many were blessed to know and love him.

Those left to cherish Gary's memory include his mother, Deborah (Debby) McKinzie; son, Tristan Lee Nielsen; daughter, Brittney Nicole Nielsen; two brothers, James Spencer Nielsen and Alan Nielsen; two sisters, Debra Katherine Chambers and Sandra Marie Voglewede; one grandson, Grayson Lee Nielsen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary is preceded in death by his father, Ward Woodrow Nielsen.
