Obituary

Oberlin -A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis Dugas, 84, will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  Rev. Fr. Clyde Thomas will officiate.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Soileau under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 4-9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary being prayed 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Francis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was devoted to his wife, Jane, for 60 years. Francis had been a faithful member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church for the past 43 years.   He enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Francis was an avid baseball fan; his favorite team being the Houston Astros. He owned Dugas Grocery in Oberlin for 20 years while enjoying an excellent career in banking, as well. After his well-deserved retirement, he worked for Koasati Pines golf course as a Course Marshall.  Francis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane of Oberlin; two daughters, Angie Guidry and husband, Kent and Christine Meaux and husband, Kevin, all of Oberlin; one son, Mark Dugas and wife, Kelly of Oberlin; six grandchildren, Alison Bergeron and husband, Cameron of Eunice, Madison Meaux of Oberlin, Zachary Dugas of Dry Creek, and Austin, Amber, and Allie Manuel of Oberlin; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Emma Bergeron of Eunice.

Francis is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Dugas, Sr. and Beulah Dugas; one son, David Dugas; one brother, Vernon Dugas; one sister, Elaine Dugas; and one grandson, Kade Guidry.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Brighton Bridge Hospice for all of their love, care and compassion for Mr. Francis.
