"Frankie's" family will receive friends and visitors at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Oakdale on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025, from 9 o'clock a.m. until time of service. All of "Frankie's" arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Francis, affectionately known as "Frankie" to everyone, was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. One of his greatest joys was being able to stay in touch with his family and friends with his frequent cell phone calls. He was a simple man that loved his family. Whenever he met someone, if one of his family was around, he would be sure to let that person know that this was one of his family members. Aunt Louise was always there for Frankie as his caretaker and support for many, many years. Frankie lived next door to Uncle Billy where they helped each other in numerous ways. Both of their lives will be forever changed without Frankie's presence. Frankie was also close to many of his cousins and his sister, Mary Ann, whom he called almost daily. He loved his mama dearly and loved talking about her. His photo albums with pictures of his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins were some of his most cherished possessions. His Emmanuel Baptist Church family was so supportive and caring to him and he loved them just as much as they loved him. God and family were most important to him.  Frankie will be forever missed and unconditionally loved by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Frankie's memory include one sister, Mary Ann Gvozd of Cresson, PA.; two aunts, Louise LeJeune Pettit of Oakdale, LA, and Gale Slayton of Lawton, OK; one uncle, Billy Slayton of Oakdale, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Sr. and Mary Ann Slayton Gvozd; and one brother, Raymond Gvozd.

Frankie's family would like to thank Allen Oaks Nursing Home staff and Brighton Bridge Hospice for all their support and compassion while taking care of Frankie.

Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with Frankie's family at www.ardoinfuneralhome.com and on Facebook-Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
